TORONTO, ON—Toronto Beaches Junior A Lacrosse is excited to announce the recent promotion of Damon Edwards to the front office as Director of Athlete Performance. The Toronto Beaches assistant coach, grew up playing lacrosse in the Toronto Beaches. He works as a strength and conditioning coach for GRIT Athletics, a sport and performance training centre committed to developing athletic, physical & personal excellence in Toronto.

“We are incredibly excited to have Damon take on a larger role with our leadership team,” said managing director Reid Acton. “We have surrounded ourselves with a dynamic group of young people who have positive profiles in the lacrosse community—and Damon is a perfect example of that.”

Edwards, a Toronto native, just completed his ninth year and eighth season with Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League (NLL).

Edwards is a second-generation Toronto pro athlete as his father Dwight was a CFL wide receiver whose 11-year career began and ended with the Toronto Argonauts. Fiercely loyal to his hometown, the speedy defender agreed to a 1-year contract extension with the Toronto Rock in August and is currently the longest-serving defender on the team.
